“Steven, this is Clem Fandango. Can you hear me?”
Amanda and I try to self-source whenever possible. When we started discussing an audiobook of Things They Buried, we were quick to decide that we would at least try to make a go of it on our own. Fortunately, home recording is one of the many things I have some experience with, and I wisely didn’t sell all of my gear over the years.
So, we’re now repurposing our dining room into an audio production studio. It’s a great room, but it’s basically a reverb chamber, so an isolation booth was the first priority. After spending some time thinking about it, I came up with the solution pictured above. For the next few weeks we will be recording pronunciations for all of the odd words and names in our Glossary as both practice for our reading voices and to get me back up to speed as an amateur audio engineer.
